Orroroo Half Marathon - 27 March 2011
The Orroroo Half Marathon is a road race for runners and walkers, run every year on the last Sunday in March. The 2011 event will start around 8:30am, with running and walking events for the 21Km, 10Km, and 5Km distances, and a walking 15Km race. The 21, 15 and 10Km distance events are timed, and the 5Km walk and run is self timed.
The events are run under road racing conditions, with road wardens and water stations, and is a looped race from the township of Orroroo, out onto the gently undulating Pekina road, then looping back into the town to finish at the starting line. To compliment the family participation, a barbeque lunch and drinks are available at the end of the race, prior to the presentation of cash prizes to the winners of the distance events, and medals for the winning school age participants.
It is a day where family participation is encouraged, and is generally a great time of the year to get out and see the country side of the Southern Flinders Ranges!
2010-2011 be active Open Water Swimming Program Saturday 6 November 2010 – Saturday 5 February 2011
Whether it is raining, hailing or shining participants between 10 and 70 years+ are encouraged to join in and be active as you learn the skills to swim in the open water events (400m or 1500m) at the Brighton Jetty Classic.
The Channel 7 Brighton Jetty Classic is the largest ocean swimming event in South Australia, combining open water swimming events for highly competitive young, old and disabled swimmers as well as for total novices.
24 Hour Mega Swim, Unley Swimming Centre - 12 - 13 February 2011
The 24 Hour Mega Swim is a swim relay in which teams of no more than 20 members compete. Each team must have only one swimmer in the water at all times for the duration of the 24 hours and keeps track of how far their team has swum. There are no rules as to how you swim the event, however no aids or floating devices are allowed. Swimmers with a disability may use aides at the discretion of the Event Manager. Points are awarded for money raised (1 point for every $10 raised) and distance covered (1 point for every 500 metres swum). The points from each of these areas are joined together, with the winner being the team who has the most points.

Mutual Community Challenge Tour - Friday 21 January 2011
The Mutual Community Challenge Tour is ideal for individuals or social, corporate and sporting teams looking for a challenge with a difference. Four new start options are available in 2011. These range from the full 135km route from Norwood, to a short 35km ride from Macclesfield to Strathalbyn.
Friday 2 October 2009 is National Walk to Work Day (WTWD). The event is coordinated by the Pedestrian Council of Australia. On WTWD all Australians are encouraged to walk. The message for 2009 is BETTER HEALTH - CLEANER AIR. The event is to encourage all people to build walking into their day by walking all or part of the way to work.

Recreational cyclists of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels are invited to be a part of the excitement of Australia’s premier international cycling race, the Tour Down Under, through participation in the Škoda Breakaway Series, a program for the budding cyclist in all of us.
The 2008 Tour Down Under will be the first ever ProTour cycling race to be staged outside of Europe. The UCI ProTour 2008 Tour Down Under will be staged 22 – 27 January 2008 with the Down Under Classic being held on Sunday 20 January 2008 at Glenelg.
The Škoda Breakaway Series incorporates the Mutual Community Challenge Tour, the Mutual Community Fun Tour and the Mini Tour for Kids presented by UniSA.
An opportunity for kids aged 8 – 14 years only is available with the Mini Tour for Kids on Sunday 20 January 2008. Limited to 400 entrants, the Mini Tour for Kids is a safe and contained hot-dog loop that includes the Finish Arch of the Down Under Classic.
Held amongst the excitement of beachside Glenelg, the Mini Tour for Kids is a wonderful opportunity for budding cycling heroes to soak up the atmosphere of one of the world’s great cycling races. be active Aquatic Team Challenge
The be active Aquatic Team Challenge is a team event held once a fortnight over 14 weeks. Teams consist of up to 5 people who choose to swim either 10 laps (500m) or 20 laps (1000m). The aim is to increase the number of laps or improve your times
The be active Corporate Cup is a workplace team event run once a fortnight over 16 weeks with the aim of improving personal fitness and wellbeing. Participants can choose to either walk or run in one of four regions over three distances.

The sixth National Physical Activity Conference will be held in Adelaide 13-16 October 2007. The Conference will be held concurrently with the 2007 Recreation and Sport Development Conference, the Australian Conference of Science and Medicine in Sport, and the Fifth National Sports Injury Prevention Conference.
Children across South Australia will be urged to walk to school on Walk Safely to School Day, held this year on Friday 4 May.
This national, annual event sees many thousands of primary and junior primary school children walking to and from school with their parents and carers. Last year 99 schools across South Australia took part - about 26,000 students.
This year the Pedestrian Council of Australia is hoping to break the 100 mark!
The final 2006 Walks with Nature event is coming up on Sunday 19th November 2006. A "Magical Mallee Scrub Meander" will take in the delightful Ferries McDonald Conservation Park, located only 16km south west of Murray Bridge or a leisurely 1hour drive from Adelaide's CBD
The Northern Carers be active Family Fun Day was held on Tuesday 3rd October at Fremont Park, Elizabeth. The event promoted the importance of physical activity to families with a full time carer role.
The day was a great success, providing both children and adults with the opportunity to participate in a range of activities. For some, it was the first time children with a disability were actively involved in the same organised activities as their siblings.
National Walk to Work Day is an initiative of the Pedestrian Council of Australia to promote regular walking as a healthy activity. To support the event the Pedestrian Council of Australia is encouraging people to walk to their first appointment, get off the bus a stop earlier or simply leave the car at least 1km away and walk to work.

The be active Corporate Cup is a team event run once a fortnight over 16 weeks from August to November, 2006. Teams of up to 7 runners or walkers can participate in one of 4 regions with a choice of 2 or 3 distances with the aim of improving personal fitness and wellbeing.
There are 4 different event categories that teams can enter, these include:
Corporate Cup: The major Corporate Cup trophy – all members need to run/walk the 4.5 km distance to be in the running to win.
Mini Cup: All members of the team participate in the 2.25 km or 2.75km (city) course only.
Mixed Distance Cup: Team members can run/walk either 4.5 km or the 2.25, or 7 km in the city.
Mega Cup: All team members either run/walk the 7km course (city region only).

The SA Water Vacswim program is a South Australian Government funded program for school aged children from 5 years and up. The program provides participants with opportunities to develop a range of skills and positive experiences in the areas of water safety, confidence and competence in the water, personal survival activities, emergency procedures and basic swimming stroke improvement.
It's also a great way to keep your kids active over the holiday period! The program is conducted between 3-13 January 2006 by qualified instructors in a controlled environment, located at school pools, public and private schools, beaches and lakes throughout South Australia.
Active Life Tours
Active Life is a lifestyle program established for older adults which aims to improve the quality of life for South Australia’s growing ageing society by providing a variety of community, health, leisure and recreation activities. The program provides opportunities for people over the age of 45 years to participate in a variety of activities that will assist in creating healthier attitudes, lifestyle, physical and mental well-being.
Active Life Tours are scheduled on the last Tuesday of every month. Coach departs from the Beehive Corner, corner of King William Street and Rundle Mall at 9am and returns to the city at approximately 4.30pm.
Mothers Day Classic Fun Run - 14 May 2006
The Mothers Day Classic is a walk/run to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation's breast cancer research program.
The Mothers Day Classic 2006 will be held on Sunday 14 May. Starting at Pinky Flat and consisting of a 4 km and 8 km category, entrants have the choice to either run or walk the distance of their choice.

The 2006 be active Tour is being staged on Friday 20 January and offers everyone the chance to be active and pedal their way over the Stage 4 route of the Jacob's Creek Tour Down Under.
Close to 5000 people of all shapes, sizes, ages and fitness levels donned their exclusive be active jersey and participated in 2005 - and it's expected to be even bigger this year.
Choose between 3 distances - a 154km stage distance starting at Strathalbyn, a 93km option from Goolwa, and 24km ride from Delamere - all finishing in Yankalilla.

2005 City to Bay - 18 September
The Sunday Mail City-Bay-Fun Run is Adelaide's largest fun run, starting in the city and finishing at Glenelg beach. It provides an opportunity for people to compete seriously - aiming to complete the 12km course in record time; to aim for a personal best time or aim to just finish!!
For the first time the City-Bay Fun Run committee has incorporated the Find-30 3km event to encourage everyone including families and even grandparents with their grandchildren to be involved in the City-Bay Fun Run.
